Hi All

I am an aspirant of UPPSC 2012(in this year I missed the form filling process).I am 27 years old and work for a software company.I wish to appear in UPPSC with Economics and Defence studies. Is Economics a safe and scoring optional for UPPSC or not as some of my friends are telling me(one of them qualified in UPPSC and IAS too) that Economics is a suicidal subject in UPPSC so I should go for Pub Ad in place of Economics.I ahve no background in economics but I have a lot interest in it as I think that it will help me in my future life too.So what should I do ?Should I opt economics or pub ad?Please respond ASAP

Hello friend,
As i know the preliminary exam of U.P. PSC doesn't have any optional subjest.
If you are selected in preliminaries then you are called for the main.
Now in main paper you have choose the optional paper as per your interest or knowledge.
Yes you can take management subject as an optional subject in the mains of the uppsc exam.
Good luck!!!!!

Hey there is no preliminary examination for IAS which is conducted by UPSC from this year onwards. The preliminary examination was replaced by CSAT- Civil services aptitude test.

According to this exam, the candidate have to appear in two objective type papers having special emphasis on testing their aptitude for civil services as well as on ethical and moral dimension of decision making under CSAT.

And there are no changes in the main examination, It is as like that of the previous years,

Re: Can I take ‘Management’ as an optional paper in U.P. PCS preliminary examination?

Dear Friend

According to the Plan of UPPSC exam;

The preliminary exam will consist of two papers
i)General Studies(Objective type)
ii)Any one subject from the list of optional subject for preliminary exam.
(There is no Management paper in the list)

The Main examination will include
1. Compulsory subjects:
a. General Hindi
b. Essay
c. General Studies-I
d. General Studeis-II
2. Optional Subject
Candidate is required to select any two optional subject from the list provided
in advertisement.
In main examination there is a restriction that one can't opt for both
Management and Public Administration paper.
So, you should take anyone of them and choose some other subject as
your second optional paper.
As you have studied Zoology so you can opt for Zoology because you
know the basics of this subject. All you have to do is to refine your knowledge.
If you think that Zoology is beyond your interest then first find the subject
(other than Management/Public Administration) in which you have more interest.

For any further details visit the official website of UPPSC

The advertisement for the exam is attached with this message.
Find it into the attachments.

Thank You

Can I take ‘Management’ as an optional paper in U.P. PCS preliminary examination?

Sir,
I am a management graduate, completed my PGDBM and I am aspirant for U.P. Combined state/upper subordinate service examination. I want to ask that can I take ‘management’ as an optional paper in above mentioned examination in Prelims. If ‘Yes’...fine..but If “No”…then I go for ‘Pub. Admin.’ Paper…but in main exam…there is restriction to take ‘Management’ and ‘Pub. Admin’ both together.

In graduation…I have passed with Zoology & Environmental Science. But I don’t want to take these as my optional paper. So what should I take? But my basic question is that can I take ‘management’ as an optional paper in Preliminary Exam of U.P. Combined state/upper subordinate service examination.
