Details of Ramanujan Fellowships
Ph.D holders in streams of engineering or technology can apply for Ramanujan Fellowship program. Candidates who obtain a masters degree in engineering, technology or medicine are also eligible to apply for the same. This fellowship program is given for a period of 5 years and the total amount of scholarship is Rs 75, 000/- per month. Selection process is carried out by the decision of Search –cum- Selection Committee appointed for this purpose.
Eligibility Criteria for Ramanujan Fellowships
It is essential for candidates to hold a higher degree such as Ph.D in specific science streams to apply for this fellowship program. The required degree needs to be secured in streams like science, or engineering. Candidates with master’s degree in engineering or technology, or MD in Medicine with specific years of professional experience can also apply for this program. This fellowship will be selective as only for those candidates with outstanding academic performance or proven track record in any of the research publications. Those brilliant scientists or engineers below 60 years of age can submit applications for this fellowship program.
Benefits of Ramanujan Fellowships
This Fellowship program covers all broad areas of science. The total duration of this fellowship program is 5 years. The total amount given as part of this fellowship program is Rs 75, 000/- per month. In addition to this, each applicant will get a contingency amount of Rs 5 lakh per annum specifically meant for conferences and other expenses. Apart from this, those candidates who got selected for this fellowship program will be eligible for regular research grants by way of extra mural funding schemes given by specific S&T agencies of the Government of India.
Selection Procedure for Ramanujan Fellowships
The details of Ramanujan Fellowships advertisement will be put up in the official websites of prominent research and other academic institutions. Interested scientists or engineers can submit applications for this fellowship programs on that basis. Each of the institutions will put up the list of recommended nominations of candidates in the Department of Science and Technology. These institutions follow a specific method for scrutinizing the fellowship applications and choose final nominations of candidates will be done by these institutions. Apart from, individual scientist or other technologists are also capable of approaching the institutions for recommending and forwarding their names for fellowship program in the Department of Science and Technology. The final selection process for this scholarship program will depend on the decision taken by the Search –cum- Selection Committee specifically functioning for the purpose of selection. There is no last date specified for submitting applications or nominations for this fellowship program as it is possible to submit the same throughout the academic year.
