Is 2 science letral diploma different from 3 year diploma ?

Yes. The lateral entry diploma is equivalent to 3 years diploma course.

Diploma is three years duration course which can be done mostly after 10th.
But there is provision made for 12th with PCM and ITI completed candidates in eligibility criteria of 3 years diploma engineering course.
As per this agility criteria candidate who have completed 12th with PCM or ITI is eligible by leteral entry i.e. he/she will get admission for direct second year of diploma. But the diploma is 3 year duration course. diploma completed by 12th student by later entry is also considered as 3 years duration diploma engineering course.
