KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is a national level scholarship program for students who are interested in pursuing a career in research and development in basic sciences.

The KVPY exam has three streams: SA, SX and SB. The SX stream is for students who are studying in Class 12. The exam consists of two parts: Part I and Part II.

In Part I, there are four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Each subject has 20 questions of 1 mark each. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

For example, you can attempt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology or any other combination.

However, you have to attempt the same subjects in both parts. You cannot change your choice of subjects between Part I and Part II.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam for the SX stream consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2.

In Paper 1 of the KVPY SX stream, there are multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from four subjects, namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. The questions are evenly distributed among the four subjects, and there is no choice of subjects in Paper 1. The total marks for Paper 1 is 80, and the duration of the exam is 1.5 hours.

In Paper 2 of the KVPY SX stream, there are also multiple-choice questions from the same four subjects, and the questions are evenly distributed among the subjects. However, the candidate is given the option to choose any three out of the four subjects to answer the questions. The total marks for Paper 2 is 120, and the duration of the exam is 2 hours.

Therefore, there is no choice of subjects in Paper 1 of the KVPY SX stream. However, in Paper 2, the candidate can choose any three out of the four subjects to answer the questions.
