COMBINED STATE / UPPER SUBORDINATE SERVICES EXAMINATION - 2012

O.M.R Application forms available at the Head Post Office of the Districts or from the Post Offices, mentioned under SI. No. 9(2)of this Advt. from 28th January, 2012

The cost of the O.M.R application forms has been fixed as Rs. 155/- for PREGEN series
(General, OBC of U.P. and all candidates of other States) and Rs. 95/- for PRERES Series (SC of U.P, ST of U.P.).

Number of Vacancies: The estimated no. of vacancies is 100 at present.

AGE LIMIT: (i) Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have crossed the age of 35 years on July 1, 2012.
(ii) Relaxation in Upper Age Limit : (a) Upper age limit shall be greater by five years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes of U.P., Scheduled Tribes of U.P., Other Backward Classes and Dependents of Freedom Fighters of U.P. (only domiciled person in U.P. are entitled for such age relaxation)

I have attached the UPPCS2012-Notification! You may have a look to the syllabus for all the subjects there. It's good to develop the tendency of self reading rather than asking trifle matters on forum.

The last date of form submission: 5.00 PM on or before 24 Feb, 2012 (9 days left!).

Hi,

I got it somewhere after google search, and I feel it the best way to choose an optional subject:

1. Interest: Choose a subject that you have an (a) aptitude for and (b) the one in which you have more than just a passing interest. Aspirant should be prepared to spend 100s of hours with the chosen subject.

Subject Knowledge: Graduation/post-graduation subject should be taken if you are comfortable with it. That will certainly help in the preparation since you have good knowledge in the subject area. But do not take it if you had only a passing interest in it in college.

Availability of Resources: Secondly, find out how easily is the study material, guidance, coaching, etc available in a particular optional subject. Availability of quality guidance makes learning of the subject easy.



Before finalizing an optional:

• Analyse the syllabus in detail
• Analyse the last ten years question paper to figure out a subject’s difficulty level
• Don’t take a subject just because someone else is also taking it
• Science subjects should be handled by people with ONLY science background
• Art subjects should be handled by ALL

PAPER -I (200 marks) Duration:Two hours

• Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian National Movement.
• Indian and World geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and governance - Constitution , Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues etc.
• Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General Issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change- that do not require subject specialization.
• General Science


PAPER-II (200 marks) Duration:Two hours

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
• Decision making and problem solving.
• General mental ability
• Elementary Mathematics upto Class X level- Arithmatic, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics.
• General English upto Class X level.
• General Hindi upto Class X level.


Current events of national and international importance:- On Current Events of National and International importance, candidates will be expected to have knowledge about them.

History of India and Indian National Movement:- In History emphasis should be on broad understanding social, economic and political aspects of Indian history. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have synoptic view of nature and character of the freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence.

Indian and world Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World:- In World Geography only general understanding of the subject will be expected. Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.

Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc: In Indian Polity, Economic and Culture, questions will test knowledge of country’s political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development, broad features of Economic policy in India and Indian Culture.

Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc: The candidates will be tested with respect to problems and relationship between Population, Enviornment and Urbanisation.

General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization. General awareness of the subject is expected from candidates.

General Science:- Questions on General Science will cover general appereciation and understanding of Science including matters of every day observation and experience, as may be expected of a well educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.

Note:- Candidate are expected to have general awareness about the above subjects with special reference to Uttar Pradesh.

ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS (UPTO CLASS X LEVEL)

(1) Arithmetic: (i) Number systems: Natural Numbers, Integers, Rational and irrational numbers, Real numbers, Divisors of an Integer, prime integers, L.C.M. and H.C.F. of integrs and their interrelationship. (ii) Average (iii) Ratio and proportion (iv) Percentage (v) Profit and Loss (vi) Simple and Compound interests (vii) Work and Time. (viii) Speed, Time and Distance

(2) Algebra: (i) Factors of polynomials, L.C.M. and H.C.F. of polynomials and their interrelationship, Remainder theorem, simultaneous linear equations, quadratic equations. (ii) Set Theory: Set null set, subsets and proper subsets of a set, operations (Union, Intersections, difference, symmetric difference) between sets, Venn-diagram.

(3) Geometry: (i) Constructions and theorems regarding triangle, rectangle, square, trapezium and circles, their perimeter and area. (ii) Volume and surface area of sphere, right circular cylinder, right circular Cone and Cube.

(4) Statistics: Collection of data, Classification of data, frequency, frequency distribution, tabulation, cumulative frequency. Representation of data - Bar diagram, Pie chart, histogram, frequency polygon, comulative frequency curves (ogives), Measures of Central tendency: Arithmentic mean, Median and Mode.

(1) Comprehension.
(2) Active Voice and Passive Voice.
(3) Parts of Speech.

When you purchased the form, you should have opened it immediately to fill-up. Now the last date for UPPCS-2012 form submission is over. You will have to wait for next year, and then don't ask in forum when to open the form, but fill-up and send it to UPPSC before the last date of UP-PCS-2013.

The UPPCS-2012 Pre Exam is over and I feel you are interested for the UPPCS-2013. Generally the notifications for UPPCS comes in the month of January.

This is the best time to begin the preparation for UPPCS-2013! Go through different optionals, select the two best suited to you, and kick-off your study on GS/CSAT along with the optionals. After notifications and form submission focus only on GS/CSAT (it's what I feel) until Pre Exam.

--> In the case of Punjab Police Service:-

- A candidate should have attained the minimum age of 21 years and should not have attained the age of 28 years on the first day of the year.

--> In the case of Deputy Superintendent of Police:-

candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab are relaxed in age upto 5 years as per Punjab Government Instructions.

-> The upper age limit for a Punjab Government employee, including that of a court, who has not less than four years continuous service under the Government, will be relaxable up to 45 years.

-> The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable up to a maximum of five years for Schedules Castes and Scheduled Tribes of all States and Backward Classes of Punjab.
