How is mining engg. I will be able to get it in 4th or 5th rounds from nit surathkal or any other nit. My aieee rank is 21,457.iam intrested in maths and physics.

But if you wan to know about Petrolium engineering then its a very good line,
because in it the career is grow day bya day, mean it is a growing organisation, so go for it.

are u all right ??? rajiv gandhi's placement are goin too down these days whereas upes already bein better is improving tremendously the next breed of petroleum engineers will defifnitely be from upes only bcoz of their all round developed student......

firstly,I will say ,You must follow your interest.
Petroleum engineering is fast growing field. If you go for that you will have ample job opportunity in this area . you can get job in RIL,ONGC,IOC,HP.
so,pls. decide according to interest.

Good placement depends upon the institute in which you are
studying and also your technical competancy.
Petroleum engineering is a engineering branch taken by few
people in India so there is less competition and there are
lot of jobs with excellent pay packages.
You can get job in companies involved in
exploration, production and exploitation of oil and natural gas.
You can get a job in HPCL, BPCL, ONGC,
Reliance industries, Oil India limited, etc.
They give excellent salaries to freshers also.

you are not telling the truth because if u have got aieee rank of about 7000 then u will get a much better rank than 78 in upes merit based on your aieee rank or else this rank is through your board meri

You must adopt petroleum engineering from upes DEHRADUN. It is far better than any NIT. The name of UPES is sufficient for your placement and there is a very good placement record of UPES in petroleum engineering

I completely agree with you. UPES is definately the best university to pursue Oil and Gas related programs. Infact, I would say though earlier there was a perception among students that this university is best for Oil and Gas related programs only but now students are enrolling for all of their programs as per their interest. University has shown very good track record of its placements for all of its programs and this has changed the whole perception. And me too personally feel that all of their stream are very good, they are industry focused and have great career prospects. And this time admissions for MBA, M.tech and BBA are in full swing so if anyone out here is looking for any of these program, just go and grab a seat there before its get full.
