Basically Gmaing Industry in India has following options for exploring career till now. As there may be some more oppurtunities in coming time because of Growth of it in Indian market.

1) Game Designer: As we know the whole look and funs depends on Game Design, this part of work is much important. Creating concept of thegame and transforming the same is the main work for Designers. This part of work requires very creative and technology upto date mind.

This part has mainly three aspects.

i) Senior Level Designer.
ii) Level/Junior Desgner.
iii) Animator.

i) ) Senior Level Designer: It has greater part of work. Aperson with such designation, will be responsible for understanding the company/client need and according to that will Conceptualize the whole Design and matter of the game and will forward the work to Level/Junior Desgner.

ii) Level/Junior Desgner: Job of the person will be to work on the guidelines and the concept of Senior Level Designer.

iii) Animator: Person here have varios work to handle including Artist and programmer also sometimes. He will be reponsible for the creation of the Whole charecter required in that Game.

Then comes the greater part of work.

2) Game Programmer

This has mainly 4 types in it.

a)Programmer
b) Network Programmer
c)Graphics Programmer
d) Audio Programmer.

a)Programmer : has main part of job here. And genarally Engineers with high level of proficiency are found here, because thing like- Artificial intelligence etc. are used here which can be perform by Computer engineers.

b) Network Programmer: This part of work os also for Engineers, but some having good command over C. C++ can lead here. And BCA, MCA graduate can also find her.

c)Graphics Programmer: This part of job is very enjoying one and are in great demand, apart from Animation industry also. Needs very good Taste and creativeness.

d) Audio Programmer: All the sound effects and music work are carried out by the person here. Here also little programming is required specially in C++.
3) Game Producer

I has mainly 2 parts.

a) Game Producer
b) Quality Assurance.

a) Game Producer: Nothing much, person here will e responsible for estimating cost and to check the functioning of everyone above mentioned.

b) Quality Assurance: Like a HR. It will be responsible for checking the things required and providing them on time. And to take care that client is getting master piec of work.Salary: Well more then 330 Companies are there in India in Animation industry.The above mentioned are a few of the roles played by an animation/ multimedia professional in the various segments of the audio-visual industry. Remuneration in any of these fields will be in the rang of RS. 10, 000 to RS 15,000 for beginners and can go up to RS 50, 000 per month depending upon experience and even more for Graphic Designers, and Programmers and QA team. Sky in the limit if one is an entrepreneur.

Looking at the scope of animation in present scenario Animation is indeed a good course to join but I think he should first do B.Sc. Computer and side by side if possible should do diploma in animation

Game :Basically in Gaming Industry,there may be some more opportunities in future because of growing of Indian market.

for that part you should have the creating concept of any game and transforming the same objects which is generally known as Morphing with the help of new creative technology.

The Game Designer may be of Senior Level Designer,Level/Junior Designer,Animator.

Graphics : In Graphics field,there also need of good experience and concept using various multimedia tools & software skills to create visually attractiveness.

Web: In web designing part you are required for modeling and execution of electronic media delivery by means of internet using some multimedia tools like- graphics and animation tool, HTML/XML,scripting languages like- Perl, ASP, JSP etc.

It is good that you started doing counselling of your ward in this early age. Since as you said that your ward is fond of doing creative thing then its ok that he must try this field. You can persure two type of courses after 12th :
First is Diploma: If your ward has got minimum 45% in 12th then you can apply for that.
Second is Degree: If your ward has got min 45% in 12th , both the courses have same eligibility but the differenc is of course duration. But I would suggest you that if your ward has decided to make career in this field then he must persue degree. Post graduate degree courses in animation and cartoon is very rare.

Sir , i wud like u to suggest that u must go for animation if ur son likes it. B' coz as i m also a student of std.12th gng to appear for board exams in march , i suggest that a student must not be forced but should be encouraged to go in the field which he likes , i am also going to opt for computer engineering or animation . & animation also has a demand of itself today with the developing world.
So it is better to go with a student's own choice & encourage him.

I think it will be better if you persue B.Sc. computer science or BCA and then make your career in animation industry. it'll be more beneficial for you.
otherwise animation is also a good course in itself.

Its a question from your side actually . The thing that really matters is your SON's wish . Iam not telling that you people need not take a decision . As you have told , since your Son is careless about his career , its your duty to decide and tell what he need to do next . But , What Iam teling is that , consider his taste first .

Now if ANIMATION is what you decide , and you wish to make it your Son's field , then please don't opt local short term courses , as many of them are available . There are courses like Visual Communication , where Animation skills are enhanced . But the thing is that , the institutions that offer these courses are few in number like LAYOLA COLLEGE , Chennai . So , think more for something of such sort , please don't force him to take B.tech or any other courses on your decision , it will have contradictory effects....

For MCA (Masters of Computer Application) you have need Graduation from any univercity.But if you take admission any best collage than following eligibility you have need.
