Of course you can join Indian Navy.

But you will have to sit for NDA examination conducted by UPSC twice in every year.

Here are the details eligibility criteria for NDA examination :

>>You must have passed 12th standard examination

>>Your age must lie within 16.5 to 19 years.

>>You should be an Indian

>>You should have no color blindness and should have an eyesight of 6/6.

The candidate should be physically fit for enrolement into Indian Navy.

You should be of the age between 17-21 years.

Only Unmarried male Indian citizens only eligible to apply for Indian Navy.


Medical Standards -


- Candidate should possess good mental and physical health, should be free from any disease and Disability.

- minimum height of 157 cm with proportionate body weight depending on the age and height of the candidate.


So, if you are eligible, then you have to appear in the written examinations which contains multiple choice questions from math, Science, English and G.K.

If you cleared this exams, then you will be eligible to appear in the Physical Test.

since you are from non medical backgraound with the qualification of +2, you are not eligible to join indian navy. This does not mean that candidates from commerce background are not eligible but you must hold first class degree in this stream. With a first class bachelors degree in mechincal enginering
or related field, you will be eligible to join through short service commission in the logistics department.
So, if you are keen to join indian navy, you must complete your bachelor's programme with a first class degree.

one can join Indian Navy by two ways.

1-NDA(National defence academy)

Eligibility NDA

• age should be between 16.5 to 19 years.

• for Navy::hysics+maths is compulsory

• medically fit.

• indian citizenship.

2-combined defence services

for this one needs to fulfill the following criteria::::

Eligibility CDS

• Graduation is required

• Age b/w 19 to 22 years.

• medically fit.

hence you can apply for Indian Army and airforce but not NAVY.

Sir....
You want to serve the nation, by joining the INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY (NA).
Nda stands for the NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY ,conducted by UPSC(union public service commission ),through which one can apply for the -

-INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF)
-INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY (NA)
-INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA)

One more thing I WOULD IKE TO TELL YOU...
For a NA & IAF aspirant, he must have to score atleast 60% in 12th board along with the subjects PHYSICS & MATHEMATICS.
Although you can apply for the INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY (IMA), through the NDA examination.

The educational qualification needed for this examination is a 12th degree from a recognized board.

The age limit for this examination is 16.5-19 year for all candidates.

You must have Indian citizenship with marital status unmarried.
