hi friend,
The eligibility criteria for UPSC Civil Services Examination is Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university. Those who are in final year of graduation and expecting their results till August of this year, also can apply for the exam. The age limitation for the exam is; 21-30 years for GENERAL category candidates 21-33 years for OBC category students and 21-35 years for SC/ST/PD category candidates. GEN category candidates can attempt the exam 4 times and OBC category candidates can attempt the exam 7 times. For SC/ST/PD category candidates there is no restriction as per number of attempts. The notification for the exam in available on UPSC official website http://www.upsc.gov.in/. The last date to apply for the exam is 21st March, 2011. The requirement to appear in UPSC exam is as follows 1. You should have Indian Nationality 2. You should be graduate 3. Your age should be in between 21 to 30yrs. All The Best |

Dear friend for apply UPSC Civil Services examination the eligibilty criteria are:-
Candidate should be an Indian. Candidate must have completed Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University. The age limit is 21 to 30 years. Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years and SC/ST category candidates 5 years. General category candidate attempt the exam - 4 times. OBC category candidates attempt the exam- 7 times. SC/ST candidates no limit for attemt the exam. So, friend Graduation the minimum qualification to apply for UPSC exam. UPSC - Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) conducts various examinations for different Central Govt. Organisations which requires different qualifications. However I hope you asking regarding UPSC Civil Service Exam which is conducted for appointment of various administrative Officers under Central Government.
Qualification for UPSC, Civil Service Exam:- -The candidate must be an Indian National. -Should have either appeared for the final Graduation Degree exam or passed in any stream from a recognised University. -Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission.
Every year UPSC conducts number of examinations. So, UPSC is an organizing body. You did not mention the specific UPSC Exam for which you want to know the required eligibility criteria or qualification. So, I suggest you to be more clear with your query the next time so that we can better guide. As you mentioned preliminary exam, I thought your query is with regard to civil services exam. One should have completed Graduation to make entry into civil services. Some of the popular civil services that you can opt for are IAS IPS IFS Try to be with an age of 21-30 years by the time you appear for civil services exam. Then only you are eligible to take this exam. Make a note of the selection procedure. Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Exam Civil Services Main Exam Interview The competition for this exam is located all over India. Keep this in mind and have your preparation levels too high.
