Only graduate candidate are eligible for IAS exam. You have just passed in 10 th or 12 the are eligible for IAS exam.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:

Education qualification:
Candidate should have minimum graduation degree with any discipline from a recognized university.

Age eligibility:
For General category candidate,age should be between 21 to 30 years
For OBC category candidates age should be between 21 to 33 years
For SC/ST category candidates,only minimum age is required i.e 21 years.

Womens are also can appear in IAS exam..

*The candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade..
*The candidate can also appear in IAS exam during the final year of graduation..

Age criteria:-
*The candidates age should be in between 21-30 years..
For SC/ST the age relaxation is 5 years and For OBC the age relaxation is 3 years..

(ii) Educational Qualifications :


Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification (Para 3(iii) of Notice).

There is no separate age limit for women
It is same as that of men

To Appear For IAS Examination,the following age criteria has to be fulfilled :

1. The age of the candidate must be between 21-30 years for the GEN category, 21-33 years for the OBC, and 21-35 years for the SC/ST.


2. The candidate should be minimum graduate in any discipline.

3. Stream doesn't matter in the IAS exam. So a person of any stream may apply.

The age limit criteria for the women and men is the same for the examination form IAS. The age limit criteria to apply for the IAS examination is that the candidate should be between 21 years to 30 years.]

The candidate must have attained 21 years of age on August 1st of the year of examination and must not have attained 30 years of age on that date. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. The upper age limit is also relaxed in favor of certain categories of civil servants working under the Government of India and Defense Services Personnel.
