Am I eligible for GATE exam with 64.54 percent in BE second year? Can you please let me know the minimum criteria which are followed? What should be the procedure followed to apply for the exam? Awaiting to get the response soon. Thank you!

The full form of GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

Eligibility criteria for GATE exam:

1. You must have done bachelor's degree in engineering or technology or master's degree in science to apply for this exam.

2. Second year B.Tech candidates are not eligible for this exam.

You can apply for this exam in final year of engineering. Although there is no percentage threshold still, you should maintain good percentage of marks.

So, now you are not eligible to appear in examination. Candidates appearing in final year examination ( 8th semester ) can appear in examination.

No, at present you are not eligible to apply for GATE exam being a second year B.E candidate. You have to wait till you are in the final year of B.E to become eligible for the exam. The final year candidates or candidates awaiting result are eligible to apply for GATE.

GATE is Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The exam is conducted by Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institute of Technology(all 7 IITs). The GATE rank is necessary for admission in M.Tech/M.E/Ph.D in any reputed university.
The eligibility criteria for GATE are-

>>Candidates should have a B.Tech/B.E/B.Arch degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

>>Candidates who have a post-graduation degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Application are also eligible to apply.

Application Procedure:-

<>Candidates need to apply through the official website http://www.gate.iitg.ac.in/

<>Create a login Id and password. Then fill in the details carefully in the application form.

<>Upload the photograph, signature, identity proof and marksheets.

<>Pay the application fees. The application fees can only be paid online.

• For female candidates- Rs.750
• For SC/ST candidates- Rs.750
• For all other candidates- Rs.1500

The application forms are released in the month of September and exams are held in February every year.
