My date of birth is 13/02/1994. Am i eligible for NDA examination ?

A candidate must either be :

i) a citizen of India, or
ii) a subject of Bhutan, or
iii) a subject of Nepal, or
iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

(b) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status :

A candidate must be an unmarried male and have attained the age of 16 1/2 years and must not have attained the age 19 years on the 1st January or 1st of July of the year succeeding the year of examination.
Candidates must not marry until they complete their full training. A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application, though successful will not be selected for training.
A candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Government.





(c) Educational Qualifications :

For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at the Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply.

(d) Physical Standards : Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination as per guidelines given :

Candidates are advised to rectify minor defects/ailments in order to speed up finalisation of medical examination conducted at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB. The undermentioned ailments are considered, common minor ailments :

Wax (Ears), Deviated Nasal Septum, Hydrocele/Phimosis, Overweight/Underweight, Under sized Chest, Piles, Gynaecomastia, Tonsillitis, Varicocele

A candidate recommended by the Services Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Only those candidates will be admitted to the academy who are declared fit by the Medical Board. The proceedings of the Medical Board are confidential and will not be divulged to anyone. However the candidates declared unfit will be intimated by the President of the Medical Board and the procedure for request for an Appeal Medical Board will also be intimated to the candidate.

Candidates declared unfit during Appeal Medical Board will be intimated about the provision of Review Medical Board.

(a) The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely in interfere with the efficient performance of military duties.

(b) There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight. The candidate should not be overweight or obese.

(c) The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms. (162.5 cms for Air Force) F

The age limit for NDA is 16.5 to 19 years So As far as age is concerned you are eligible for it But yeah this age must be mentioned on your matriculation certificate because no other affidavit or birth certificate are considered for age proof But still there are some other eligibility factors that you should also check.

Nationality- The candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Bhutan or Nepal.

Educational qualification-

For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy the candidate must have passed 10+2 with maths and physics

For Army wing of National Defence Academy the candidate must have passed 10+2.

THere are certain physical standards of weight also as per your height that you should check



For Naval candidates the limit of Myopia is -0.75 and for hypermetropia is +1.5 They must have a vision of at least 6/9 without glasses and 6/6 corrected with classes.

Candidates who wear glasses on regular basis are not eligible for Air Force.
There are also some standards specified for leg length,thigh length , sitting height etc. that you must check also.

Yes, you can apply. The criteria for NDA is 12th appeared or 12th pass. Between the age group 16 and 19 1/2 years. Science students can apply for all the three streams i.e. army, navy , airforce. Commerce and Arts students are eligible only for army. The notification of NDA exam is given twice a year by u.p.s.c. in major daily newspapers including employment news.

YES you are are eligible to write NDA examination.

Age Qualification for NDA Entrance Exam

Candidates who are appearing for the NDA exam must be unmarried males. They must be atleast 16 1/2 years and not more than 19 years on January 1st or July 1st of the year subsequent to the year of the exam.



National Defense Academy (NDA) allows only male candidates to apply for the NDA entrance exam. Candidates who desire to join the Army wing of the NDA must have a pass in class 12 or its equal from any subject stream. The certification must be from a recognized board or university. Those who aspire to join the Naval Wing and the Air Force must have a pass in class 12 in science.

Candidates who are going to appear for the class 12 or its equal exam are also suitable to submit an application for this exam. As to get admitted into the Naval Academy and National Defense Academy, the candidates also need to pass in the physical fitness test, as part of the selection process.

Yes you are eligible for NDA Exam.

NDA exam counduct by UPSC twice in year.

This exam held for three wings of nda- Airforce,Army,Navy & Navel Academy.

Only those Aspirant can apply who Pass out 12th class with around 55% marks from a recognized college with following subject Physics, mathematics, and Chemistry.

If you are final year students of 12th class are also eligible for nda.

Only unmarried male candidate who should not born earlier than 2nd january,1994 and not later than 1st july 1996, can apply.

If you fulfill the above criteria then you are eligibe, and also here are some of the other qualifications required.


There are three types of wings:

Indian airforce,

i am starting my 2nd year in colege this year!! my date of birth is 23/12/1993,,am i eligible or am i too late to apply for the exam,,what should i do?? can i go in through other exams into the army
