Re: Am I eligible to write Civil Service Exam after completing my 2nd year engineering?
Civil Services exam is conducted by UPSC precisely for graduate candidates. Candidates must hold a degree in any field. Candidates in the final year of their graduation can also appear for the exam.
You are in 2nd year of your engineering, which is a 4 year course. So you are not eligible to appear for this exam. Also age of the candidate must be in between 21-30 years. |

Re: Am I eligible to write Civil Service Exam after completing my 2nd year engineering?
Yes you can appear for the Civil Services Examination, but after completing the degree, not before it. If you tried to apply now, would be rejected to appear for the Civil Services Examination.
After you have completed the Bachelor of Technology course, it would be your decision whether you want to appear for Indian Police Service or the Indian Administrative Service. I should tell you that there are physical criteria for the Indian Police Service. You should be able to meet criteria for height, chest, weight, vision etc to appear for the Indian Police Service. Otherwise you will get disqualified in the later stage when medical tests will be conducted. No such criteria exists for Indian Administrative Service and therefore you can apply for it as soon as you have finished graduation without having to worry about physical criteria. Rest of the criteria for both IAS and IPS is the same. Please check that out below. Eligibility Criteria 1. Nationality: Indian 2. Qualification: Minimum of graduation. 3. Marks: No criteria. 4. Age Limit: You should be 21 years old and less than 30 years old to apply. Relaxation 1. Three years for OBC candidates in upper age limit. 2. Five years is given for SC/ST. Physical Criteria No criteria for Indian Administrative Service. Following is for Indian Police Service Chest 1. The chest of male should be 84 cm with 5 cm expansion. 2. For female the criteria is 79 cm with 5 cm expansion. Height 1. Male should at least be 165 cm tall. Requirement is 160cm for ST. 2. Female can't be shorter than 150cm. Requirement for ST is 145 cm. Vision 1. 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 2. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye Selection Process 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Personal Interview |

Re: Am I eligible to write Civil Service Exam after completing my 2nd year engineering?
As you are pursuing 2nd year of Engineering course in CSE, this year you are not eligible to apply for civil services exam this academic year.
But, once you complete your Engineering course, you are eligible to apply for civil services exam. Because the minimum academic qualification that one should have is Graduation in order to apply for this exam. So, you have 2 years of time is there in your hands in order to prepare for this exam. Make the most of this time to crack this exam. Make a choice of optional subject as per your interest. Better if it is the subject that you are pursuing in your Engineering course. The required age criteria for the candidates to take this exam is as follows 21-30 years of age for the candidates of General category 21-33 years of age for the candidates of OBC category 21-35 years of age for the candidates of SC or ST category. The minimum academic qualification required is Graduation. Here are the number of attempts for this exam. Maximum of 4 times for the candidates of General category Maximum of 7 times for the candidates of OBC category No limit on the number of attempts for the candidates of SC or ST category. Have good preparation for this exam and crack it. Wish you all the best. |
