I.E.S exam is for engineers and any all those who have completed engineering or are in the final year of exam and are in the age group of 21-30 can apply for the exam in any of the four subjects that are civil,mechanical,electrical and electronics

Yes you can give this exam as you are doing B.Tech . Make sure that your degree should be either in mechanical,electronics,electrical or civil

With regards to your query for the B.tech students should appear for the IES exam or not then i want to tell you that you can surely appear for this exam.Even this exam is particularly design for engineering students only.So you dont have to worry at all and for this exam with very much confident.

The full form of IES is Indian Engineering Service conducted through UPSC baord to fill the vacancy for the engineers in Indian govt. this the exam only engineer graduates can give. A candidate in the final year of his engineering can also appear for the exam.

yes, only engineers can apply for IES exam. those students which have passed b.tech with atleast 60% marks are eligible to give the exam. the notification for the exam will come in the employment news. so you must keep checking that regularly. for more details regarding the exam, you can visit

Yes, friend B.tech student can apply for IES examination because the eligibility criteria for IES examination is graduation. You can also apply for this exam in the final year. As From upsc site This year IES examination Eligibility Criteria are

• A degree in Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent. M.Sc Degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subject acceptable for certain Services/posts only.
  
• Age must be in between 21 - 30 years as on 01.08.2011
  
  
• Even Final year Students can Also apply for The same.
