It is an Professional course . The duration of the course is for four years and the course is divided into three levels namely Foundation course , Intermediate course and Final Course .

To apply for Intermediate course you should complete 12th standard in any discipline ( ie :- Commerce / Arts / Science ) from recognized university . You should be qualified in CPT Examination with good percentage of marks . CPT Examination is mandatory to apply for Foundation course . CPT stands for Common proficiency Test . It is an Entry level Examination for CA course and this Examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India for every twice in a year .

For science stream candidates for 60% percentage of marks . Final year candidate of bachelor degree may also eligible to apply for this course .

So, After completing 12th standard you should qualified in CPT Examination with good percentage of marks then only your eligible to apply for Foundation course .

Yes you can apply for CA after 12th exam. Candidates who have passed 10+2 or appearing in any discipline(ie Commerce/Arts/Science) from recognized University can Apply for CPT exam conducted twice every year in the month of June & December. You should be able to clear CPT with good marks.
There are no restrictions in the no. of attempts a candidate can make at CA-CPT exam.

There are no restrictions in Percentage in 10+2 for CPT test. But after Graduation there are some rules for applying in terms of percentage in Graduation.

So just pass the CPT with qualifying marks and then apply for IPCC course.

Commerce graduates with 50% marks, non-commerce graduates with who don't have maths an aggregate of 55% marks and non-commerce graduates with Maths with an aggregate of 60% marks don't have to apply for the Competency Professional Test (CPT) and can directly register for Professional Competency Course (PCC).

Candidates who have passed the Final Examination conducted by the Institute of Cost & works Accountants of India (ICWAI) or the Institute of Company secretariesof India (ICSI) can register for professional Competency Course.

After passing Professional Competency Course, the candidates can register as Articled clerks for practical training and for admission to the Final course of the C.A..

Every graduate above18 years of age is eligible to register as an articled clerk/Audit Clerks for Chartered Accountancy.

Of course you can apply for Chartered Accountancy course after completing 12th. You will have to first register for the Common Proficiency Test which is conducted two times in a year. First time in June and second time in December.

A candidate can register for Common Proficiency Test as soon as after completing 10th. However you are only allowed to appear for it after completing 12th standard. There are four subjects in the Common Proficiency Test that are divided into two sections. You will have to score at least 30 percent marks in each section to clear the Common Proficiency Test.

Integrated Professional Competancy Course (IPCC)
