Dear friend,

Yes , B-TECH student are eligible for CID exam .But you must be completed your graduation degree first.

because final year student are not eligible for CID exam.

To become a CDI officer, then you have to appear the exams conducted by UPSC.

This exams is held generally once a year for the post of Sub-Inspectors of Police in Central Bureau of Investigation and the application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News in the month of October.

Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for CID exam.

Also your age should be in between 18 years to 27 years.

The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

go for it .
because you are a software engineer so why you want to go for that field

Crime Branch CID (Criminal Investigation Department) is a specialised wing in many state police forces in India of their Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
