Union Public Service Commission conducts the CDS Examination for those students who wants to pursue a career in any one of the defense system of India.

You can give the CDS exam to join any one of the following academy:

Indian Military Academy
Naval Academy
Air Force Academy
Officers' Training Academy

The eligibility criteria required to enter different academy is different.

Indian Military Academy:

If you have a degree in any discipline from a recognized university then you can apply for this academy.

Your age should be between 19 and 24 years.

Naval Academy

To join naval academy you need to have a B.Sc degree in physics or mathematics or a B.Tech degree in engineering or technology

If your age is above 22 years then you can apply for this exam.

Air Force Academy:

To join this academy you need to have an engineering degree or bachelor's degree in mathematics or physics

Your age should be between 19 and 23 years.

Officers' Training Academy (OTA):

To join this academy you need to have a bachelor's degree in recognized university.

Your age should be between 19 and 25 years.

CDS Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern differs from one academy to the other.

For the indian military academy, naval academy and air force academy questions will come from the following areas:

English
General Knowledge
Elementary Mathematics

The duration of each paper is 2 hours and marks alloted for each subject is 100.

For OTA questions will come from the english and GK only. Basically objective type questions will come for the exam.

Indian Air Force can be joined through CDS after B.Sc.(PCM)

CDS - Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every years CDS-I and CDS-II for an entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy of CDS.

There is no requirement of any percentage of marks in Graduation for application to CDS.

The candidate aspiring to join Indian Air Force of CDS, must be an Indian unmarried Male having either appear for the final Graduation Degree or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 23 years with good Physical and Mental health.

Yes, you can join Indian Air Force after B.Sc. PCM, as graduation is required for the exam.

Indian Air Force , after graduaton can be joined by qualifying CDS exam .

The eligibility criteria for CDS exam are -

Age criteria is different for different academies, as-

For IMA - 19 years - 24 years

For Naval academy- 19years - 22years

For Officer's Training Academy - 19-25 years

Syllabus of CDS exam –

CDS exam consists of these papers -

General English – 100 marks

General knowledge – 100 marks

Elementary Maths – 100 marks

So, if you fulfill age criteria also, then you can apply for CDS exam.

After B.Sc.(PCM) degree one can join Indian Air Force by cracking CDS(Combined Defence Service) entrance exam conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II.

The eligible candidate wishing to join Indian Air Force of CDS, must be an Indian unmarried Male having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 23 years with good Physical and Mental Fitness.

There is no percentage of marks criteria in Graduation for application to CDS entrance exam.

Yes,you will be able to get jobs in Indian Air-Force after completing your Graduation in B.sc(PCM).To get jobs in Indian Air-Force you will have to apply for AFCAT(Air-Force Common Admission Test) and you will have to select for Flying Branch.To apply for this exam,you will require to meet these Eligibility conditions :

Educational qualification :-
~Your Graduation degree(Minimum of 3 years) from recognized university.
~You papers in 10+2 should be Physics and Maths.

Marks :-
~Your aggregate marks in all papers in Graduation should be 60%.
~Your minimum marks in Physics and Maths should be 60% in 10+2.

Age :-
~Your minimum age should be 19 years.
~Your age should not be above 23 years.

AFCAT Preliminary Exam Details :

• Total duration of preliminary exam will be 2 hours.
• All questions will be objective type with multiple choice.
• Questions will include from 5 sections.
• These sections are : Verbal Ability,Reasoning,Numerical Ability,General Awareness,Military Aptitude.

AFCAT Mains Exam Details : Those candidates who will be shortlisted after preliminary exam will be eligible to appear in Mains Exam.Its details are :-

• This exam will be conducted into three stages.These are -
• Stage I - Intelligence Test.
• Stage II - Psychological Test,Group Test and Interview.
• Stage III - Pilot Aptitude Battery Test.

Definitely you can go for the Indian Air force after completion of your graduation degree course. For this you have to apply for the CDS examination. This examination is conducted by the Upsc every year for the following:-

Indian Military Academy.
Naval Academy.
Air Force Academy.
Officers' Training Academy.



The basic eligibility criteria for the Air force academy is to have a bachelor degree in engineering stream or bachelor degree in science stream from a recognized university with good percentile.Also the appearing aspirant's age must lie in between 19 year to 23 year to be eligible for this exam.


Aa you are telling that you have completed your bachelor degree as BSc in physics so definitely you can give the CDS exam for the Air force academy if your age lies between 19 year to 23 year .
