After completion of Senior Secondary education, there are basically two modes of entry in the Indian Army:
As an Officer
As an Soldier

To join as an Officer, one has to undergo training at National Defense Academy and the duration of the training is 3 years 6 months. During the training period, the aspirant will also pursue Bachelors Degree program at the Academy.
To get into the Academy, one has to qualify NDA Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission. This entrance examination is conducted two times a year and hence each has been named as NDA I and NDA II.
To be eligible for the test, aspirant must have qualified +2 level of examination and must be within the age limit of 16 1/2 years - 19 years.

As an Soldier, one may join as following:

Soldier - General Duty
Soldier - Technical
Soldier Clerk
Store Keeper
