Yes, you can join NDA without studying Mathematics subject in Higher Secondary. But, you are eligible to join only in Indian Army through NDA without studying Mathematics subject in Higher Secondary. For joining in Indian Navy or Air Force through NDA, you should have passed Higher Secondary with Mathematics and Physics subjects from a Government recognised board. So, if you pursue your Higher Secondary without Mathematics subject, you are eligible to join only in Indian Army through NDA examination.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy and to join the same you need to qualify NDA entrance examination which is held by UPSC twice every year.

The minimum education required for appearing in NDA entrance examination is a higher secondary school degree in any discipline from a recognized board. Further, to join Indian Navy or Indian Air force wing of NDA, a candidate is required to have pursued Mathematics and Physics at their Class 12th level academics.

So, it is quite evident from above mentioned that for appearing in NDA there is no necessity of having Mathematics at Class 12th level unless you are interested to join Indian Navy or Indian Air force wing of NDA. But, one thing I would like to mention here that Mathematics is important because the Paper I of NDA Written examination is of Mathematics and one is required to qualify the same paper in order to qualify NDA entrance examination.

Yes, you can join NDA even if you don't have Mathematics in 10+2.

Actually, NDA has three wings to join i.e.
  • Army
  • Air Force
  • Navy

To join Air Force and Navy, candidates need to pass 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as their primary subjects.

While for joining Army, Physics and Mathematics are not mandatory. Even commerce candidates can apply for joining Army through NDA exam.

So, if you don't wish to study Mathematics in 10+2. Then also, you can apply for Army wing of NDA.

No, one can not join NDA without studying mathematics in 11th and 12th standard. Mathematics is a compulsory subject in order to appear in NDA examination. Those students who have passed their 11th and 12th standard with PCM are eligible to apply for Airforce and Navy wing through NDA examination where as those students who have completed 12th standard with commerce stream can apply for Army wing only.

NDA refers to National Defense Academy and for joining the same you need to qualify NDA entrance examination held by UPSC twice every year.

--> Further, the minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in the same examination are as here under :-

* You must be an unmarried Indian male candidate.

* Your age must lie within 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

* You must have completed your Class 12th in any discipline from a recognized board. In order to join Indian Navy or Indian Air force through NDA you need to have pursued Mathematics and Physics at your Class 12th level.

* You must hold the physical and mental fitness as per the service requirement norms.

So, it is evident from above mentioned fact (i.e; educational qualification required ) that even if you not pursue Mathematics at your Class 12th level then also you are eligible for appearing in NDA to join its Indian Army wing ( provided you satisfy other eligibility criteria too ).

If you are not interested to pursue higher secondary with Mathematics then, you are not eligible to write NDA entrance test.
As because it is compulsory to have passed their Intermediate from Science stream having Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subject as well as English as compulsory subject.
