Re: Can I register for IPCC without CPT?
It is a must that the candidates must first appear for the CPT level. Without clearing the CPT level the candidate cannot move to the IPCC level. For the CPT level 12th qualification is sufficient. It is not a must to be a graduate to apply for the IPCC level. So you need to enrol for the CPT level if you want to become a CA.

Quote:
As per the ICAI guidelines, any individual willing to pursue chartered accountancy course has to qualify common proficiency test conducted by the institute. If you hold a degree or have just qualified +2 level of examination, you will have to qualify the CPT to register yourself for the IPCC. For further information, refer to the official website of ICAI. |

Re: Can I register for IPCC without CPT?
There are two conditions for direct CA IPCC registration and you have to satisfy any one of them to become eligible for direct IPCC without CPT.
Those who are Commerce Graduate with 55% marks are exempted for CA CPT and can apply for CA IPCC directly. Or those who are Non Commerce Graduate having 60% marks also can apply for CA IPCC directly without passing CA CPT. You have clearly mentioned that you have got 52% marks in B.Com. which is below 55% marks means you can't apply directly for CA IPCC. You have to appear for CA CPT and clear it with qualifying marks to become eligible for CA IPCC. Subjects in CA CPT: -Accounting -Mercantile Laws -General Economics -Quantitative Aptitude The exam will have objective type questions and there will be negative marking for wrong answers. Quote:
No, you will have to appear for CPT first. If you would have got above 55% in B.Com. then you would have been exempted from writing CPT. No need to worry. It is not a tough examination. So, clear it and go ahead. All the best. Thank you. |

Re: Can I register for IPCC without CPT?
While earlier taking direct admission in IPCC was not possible, things changed couple of years back when ICAI introduced new set of rules. Under these rules now it was possible to take admission directly in the second year.
However to do so you must be graduate and meet some percentage criteria. As you mentioned in question that you have completed graduation. Therefore the only question would be percentage criteria. CPT Exemption Criteria 1. You should have completed graduation. 2. 55 percent marks in commerce graduation. 3. 60 percent marks in non commerce graduation. Chech whether you can meet the criteria or not. If you are meeting it then there is absolutely no reason to apply for the Common Proficiency Test. You should go ahead with IPCC and also apply for articleship along with it. It is recommended to the candidates seeking direct entry in IPCC to also apply for the Articleship. The duration of articleship is 3 years. You must have completed 9 months of articleship to appear for exams of IPCC. But if you fail to meet the percentage criteria in graduation, it would mean that you must clear the Common Proficiency Test. If such scenario you can register for the Common Proficiency Test which is conducted twice a year. First time in June and while second time in December. There is only requirement of 30 percent marks in each group of Common Proficiency Test to clear the exam. There are 2 groups and both includes two subjects each. You should clear both of them with 30 percent marks in each. Otherwise you will have to once again appear for the Common Proficiency Test.
