No its not compulsory to do modelling in order to be a actor.

You just follow the below mentioned steps:
1)Do theater in High school
2)Get experience outside the school
3)Get a Theatrical degree- learn and master acting skills
4)Take acting classes and workshop and volunteer for local theater.
5)Get all the acting practice you can and try to assist some director, so that you get into Industry.
6)Find a non acting job in Industry, so that you get to learn the art of acting and grasp it .
7)Next give auditions and do small advertisement in order to build you acting resume.
8)Make a networking and auditioning your job and you will get your first break with you consistent hard work and from networking and from your acting skills definitely.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
