To sit for the CAT exam you need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. At graduation level you need to secure at least 50% of marks in aggregate. Reserved category candidates needs to get 45% of marks in aggregate instead. This exam can also be given by the final year candidates as well. In that case if you get selected then you need to submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of College/Institute stating that you have completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. If you manage to secure good CAT percentile then on the basis of that you will be called for the next stage of selection which is the group discussion and interview session. The top colleges in addition to the three stages as mentioned above also gives extra preference to the candidate's academic background and the kind of work experience he possess. The CAT exam is completely objective type and the duration of the test is two hours. There are two sections in the exam- the first section is Quantitative Ability & Date Interpretation: the second section is Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. For each section 70 mins have been allotted. For each right answer three marks will be awarded to you and for each wrong answer one mark is deducted from the original score. If you leave a question unanswered then no penalty will be awarded. At the start of the exam you will get 15 mins to read the paper. For the syllabus please download the attachment below. Hope this helps :-> :-> |
