Re: Which discipline to choose in graduation to become an IAS Officer?
The discipline does not matter to become the eligible to appear for the civil services examination conducted by the UPSC.
So, you are free to select the course of your interest to pursue the graduation. The eligibility to appear for the examination is :- * Candidates must have passed th graduation from any recognised university. * Candidates age must be between the 21-32 years with relaxation in the upper age for the reserved category. So, go with the one you have interest either in the science, arts or commerce.Candidates are even eligible to select the optional paper other than the discipline of the graduation. |

Re: Which discipline to choose in graduation to become an IAS Officer?
IAS stands for the Indian Administrative Services. For this services, you must appear for the Civil Services exam conducted by the UPSC every year.
Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university is the minimum academic qualification for the exam. Minimum age is 21 years for this exam. You can select any stream in bachelor's degree as per your interest. Graduates in any discipline can appear for this exam. From my point of view, you should choose discipline from arts side like political science, geography, economics etc. |

Re: Which discipline to choose in graduation to become an IAS Officer?
If you want to become IAS Officer, you must have completed your Graduation. So you have to complete your Graduation first. Graduation requires 3 years to complete. Hence, you will be having 3 years of time to complete your Graduation.
Since you just completed 11th class with PCMB, you can go for Graduation in Science stream or for Computer Science streams. B.Sc with Computer Science BCA B.Sc Biotechnology course After completion of Graduation, you need to apply for Civil Services Exam which is being conducted by UPSC. UPSC means Union Public Service Commission. After this exam, there is a Main Exam that you need to qualify. After this, there would be an Interview. If you get through in Interview as well, you would be placed in civil services. |
