Re: Does AFMC exam come under NEET?
No, AFMC exam does not come under NEET.
The NEET exam covers admission in all the private and government medical colleges in India. The AFMC exam is for the defence field which will be conducted separately. |

Re: Does AFMC exam come under NEET?
Yes from now on AFMC would also come under the NEET entrance exam. This rule will apply from next year onwards. Therefore you should really prepare for the NEET entrance exam rather than studying old question papers of AFMC entrance exam.
The director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services has recently made the announcement that from next year AFMC would not be conducting any separate entrance exam. It would go by the NEET entrance exam which is all set to be introduced for the first time in 2013. While some say NEET would take away load off the students others disagee. The bottom line is that from next year there would be single entrance exam for admission in both government and private colleges. Apart from NEET the only other exam would be AIIMS entrance exam. Since there were separate laws for the AIIMS, it would require no less than Parliamentary amendment to bring AIIMS under NEET as well. While announcing going for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services has said that application forms would have an option that whether you would like to apply for the AFMC. The candidates who would indicate that they are interested would be referred to the AFMC for the interview. However before getting admission, interest candidates would require to go through various tests like physical, mental status evaluation etc. It is also worth remembering that all the candidates selected for the AFMC are required to serve as Commissioned Officers for 7 years in Indian Army. Those who would refused to do so would lose their MBBS degree. There are total of 130 seats in the Armed Forces Medical College. |

Re: Does AFMC exam come under NEET?
From 2013, medical students aspiring to get admission to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune would have to appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) both at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level.
Lt Gen H Kakaria, director general, Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMC), made the announcement stating clearly that AFMS was now a part of NEET-UG and NEET-PG examination system and would not be holding separate entrance test for admissions to AFMC. The new procedure would apply for entry into AFMC from 2013. The merit criteria would be decided by NEET-UG and NEET-PG entrance tests. There would be an option in application form asking candidates if they wish to apply to AFMC. Only those who have indicated their wish to join would be separated and based on merit, would be referred for interview to us, said Kakaria. However, he clarified that AFMC will only admit students after conducting various tests. We would expect meritorious candidates to also pass physical, mental status evaluation and other tests prescribed for aspirants. Only after this, evaluation would candidates be offered seats, he said.
