i think its depend on your 12th subject background. if u like and easily understand chemistry u make career on chemical engg. but if u r from maths background i like to suggested u to take civil engg. i see that now a days many vacancy announced on the field of civil engg. and
it is wrong that chemical engg. has scope only in south india. chemical engg. want every where like drug industry, food stuff industry etc. |

Quote:
According to my point of view Civil engg is the mother of all engineering. there are the following differences in both engineering are : Civil engg, Now days the civil engg become very popular and are related to the construction works and site works. So, if you want to do the site work then you should have to choose the Civil engg. You can join defense and Govt., Private sector through this engineering. Chemical engg. : If you have a good background in the 12th class chemistry subject, Then you should go for chemical engg. There are also lot of job opportunities in the chemical engg. You can join defense and DRDO, and many of the Govt. and Private sector jobs. So, read the abve differences and chose your correct path. This will really help you to chose the correct career option. Best of luck for your bright future. Navneet thakur. |

Re: Which engineering course is better between Civil and Chemical? What are the career opportunities? Is it true that Chemical Engineering has scope only in South India?
If you do not have any particular interest then Civil Engineering would be my recommendation for you. The Civil Engineering is evergreen field of engineering which has plenty of jobs in government sector as well private sector.
However saying that, it is not correct to say that Chemical Engineering only has scope in South India. Perhaps the best scope for Chemical Engineering is in Gujarat. However if you are looking for government jobs, it would be hard to come by with chemical engineering. The Public Sector Undertakings have few openings for the chemical engineers. ONGC leads the way in hiring chemical engineers. Other oil exploration companies like BPCL, IOCL etc also offer jobs to Chemical Engineers. Since these companies generally work in coastal areas, it is believed that chemical engineering has scope in South India. Today there is several companies across India that requires Chemical Engineers. However if you want to recommend between Civil Engineering and Chemical, my recommendation will always be civil engineering, considering the fact that Civil Engineering holds the edge in government sector. Apart from Public Sector Undertakings, Civil Engineers can also get jobs through Indian Engineering Service. This exam is for jobs in central government departments. Some of these departments are related to bridge contruction, roads, dams etc that makes civil engineers so important. For admission in any of these courses you will have to appear for ISEET entrance exam. This exam has replaced IIT-JEE and AIEEE from 2013 onwards. ISEET Eligibility 1. Must have completed 12th standard with PCM subjects. 2. At least 40 percent marks in 12th board. |
