howmany attempts are there for gate exam for open catagory students.

ya u can have max of 3 attempts.ugeneral category can write exam for 3 times

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones such that One Indian Institute of Science(IISc),Bangalore and the Seven IITs(Bombay,Kharagpur,Kanpur,Guahati,Roorkee,Madra s,Delhi)

According to the Eligibility of the GATE:

1:You should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology or Architecture or Pharmacy of 4 years after 10+2.

2:You can also apply if you are in the final or pre-final year examination of the Master Degree.

or
3:You have to be a Master degree holders in any branch of Science like Physics,Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications etc....

4:You can also apply if you are in the final or pre-final year examination of the Master Degree.

According to the GATE rules,there is no limit of appearing in GATE exam,there is no age limit also.

there is no limit for the number of attempts for any students but there is an age limit of 30 years for an general students and relaxation of 5 years for an students belonging to sc/st category,
but its better to clear it in final year of your engineering so that you can do your m.tech without any break in your studies

There is no upper limit on number of attempts. You can go for it an number of times.

dear for all the catagories the GATE attempts has no limit you can attempt as many time you can .but the score card is valid for two years ok all the best

In one sentence you can appear for GATE how many times you need,but keep in mind that there are limitation in age for various colleges for M.Tech admission.

Final year students can also appear in the examination. According to the GATE exam rules, no age limit is specified. A candidate can appear any number of times for qualifying in the GATE.

sir,i have done my 2 in 2006.i have taken admission in b.e. in 2009.so, i have 3 years gap after 2.am i elligible for gate? please reply...........
