To move towards the goal of becoming a Chartered Accountant, first of all, one need to qualify Higher Secondary level of examination. After qualifying the Higher Secondary level of examination, candidate need to take Common Proficiency Test (CPT) conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The Common Proficiency Test comprise of a single paper carrying 200 marks and in order to qualify the test, one need to score a minimum of 50% marks in the same. After qualifying the Common Proficiency Test, candidates are considered eligible to enroll for Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) which is followed by the following stages:

• Computer Training
• Articleship Training of 3 years 6 months
• Final Course
• General Management and Communication Skill Course

To write the Final Examination, it is mandatory that the candidate pursuing the course must have completed a minimum of 3 years of Articleship Training.

Now, if a graduate is willing to pursue the Chartered Accountancy course, (s)he might get exemption from the Common Proficiency Test provided:

• A commerce graduate has scored a minimum of 55% marks in the bachelors degree examination.
  
• A non-commerce graduate has scored a minimum of 60% marks in the bachelors degree examination.
