How to become a Judge in city High Courts?


What is the minimum qualification required to become a Judge? Is there any practical experience also required? Is there any age restriction also there? Is there any entrance requirement? Please, provide details.

One should have minimum qualification L.L.B. to become a high court judge. There are two ways after L.L.B. to become a high court judge. High Court judge is appointed by president of India after consulting with chief justice and state governor.

Way 1 : Through Promotion
- Get L.L.B. degree.
- Practice as a lawyer or advocate for a ten years.
- On the basis of experience practicing as a lawyer or advocate, One can get promotion as high court judge.

Way 2 : Through Higher Judicial Service Examination
- Get L.L.B. degree
- Practice as a lawyer or advocate for a seven years.
- Apply and qualify the higher judicial service examination.
