There are so many Categories in Railway .Those are
1) Group B posts
2)Group C posts:It is categorised into 2 parts
a)Technical Cadre
b)Non-Technical Cadre
3)Group ‘D’ Posts

Railway driver coming under Group C Technical Cadre category

Eligibility to be an Engine Driver
1. Educational Qualification
To be eligible to become an Engine Driver in India one should be at least Matriculate plus ITI course in specified trades

2. Age
Minimum age of the aspiring candidate should be 18 years and maximum age limit is 30 years.

To become an Engine Driver in Indian Railways you have to apply for the competitive exam to be held for the job whenever declared by any of the 17 RRBs of different zones in the Indian Railways.

The exam has 150 questions from G.K, Aptitude, Mathematics and General English
