Hello sir, I am a girl candidate and want to join Indian Army. Please tell me how can a girl secured a job in Indian Army? Can I apply for CDS exam?

Combined Defence Services is a competitive entrance examination conducted at academic level of bachelor's degree. Students who want to join Defence and serve for nation can apply for this examination in final year of bachelor's degree.

This exam is held twice every year. Unmarried female candidates can apply for Combined Defence Services exam to enter into Indian Army. Recruitment to following wings of Defence is done through this entrance exam:

Indian Naval Academy--Bachelor's degree in science stream with Mathematics and Physics as necessary subjects or Bachelor's degree in Engineering. This is same for Air Force academy. The age limit for INA is 19-22 years and 19-23 years for Air Force academy.

Girls interested to join Army can select Indian Military Academy or Officer's Training Academy. The age limit is 19-24 for IMA and 19-25 years for OTA. Graduates of any stream are eligible for both of these academies.

To secure job in Indian Army, you will have to first pass in written test of CDS exam and Service Selection Board.

Yes definitely girl candidate can appear in CDS ( Combined Defence Service ) examination to join Indian Army as a commission officer.

* CDS examination are held twice every year by UPSC in two stages which includes Written Test followed by SSB interview.

--> Further the minimum qualifications which you must hold for appearing in CDS entrance examination to join Indian Military Academy are as here under :-

a) You must be an Indian Citizen.

b) Your age must lie within 19 years to 24 years.

c) You must have completed your graduation degree course in any stream of your choice from a recognized university. Students pursuing final year of their graduation degree are also eligible.

d) You must satisfy the physical fitness as per the service requirement norms provided in the notification released for the same examination.

Being a girl candidate and looking to join Indian Army then for that you need to join Indian Military Academy by qualifying CDS entrance examination.

* CDS refers to Combined Defence Services and CDS entrance examinations are held twice every year by UPSC. Further CDS has four wings which includes Naval Academy ( NA ), Air force Academy ( AFA ), Indian Military Academy ( IMA ) and Officer's Training Academy ( OTA ).

* The minimum qualifications required to appear in CDS entrance examination to join IMA are as here under :-

i) You must be an Indian candidate with your age lying within 19 years to 24 years.

ii) You must have completed your bachelor degree course in any discipline from a recognized university. Students pursuing final year of their bachelor degree course are also eligible.

iii) You must have physical fitness as specified in the notification released for the same examination.

Unmarried girls can apply for Combined Defence Services.

Eligibility criteria for CDS entrance exam:

1. You must have done bachelor's degree in engineering or science to apply for CDS exam for Navy and Air Force and for Army, bachelor 's degree in any discipline candidates can apply.

2. Age limit for Indian Military academy is 19-24 years and 19-25 years for Officer's Training academy.

CDS has written test and Service Selection. Candidates who clear both these stage can join Indian Army.

Yes, You can join Indian army through CDS(Combined Defense Services) exam. For CDS exam girl candidate are also allowed to apply but for applying you have to fulfill the eligibility criteria required to apply for the exam and that eligibility criteria is as follows:-

Eligibility Criteria and Details Regarding CDS exam:-

>> Candidate CDS exam is carried out by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) twice in a year namely CDS I and CDS II.

>> Minimum qualification required to apply for the CDS exam is graduation or it's equivalent qualification from a recognized institute.

>> Age limit to apply for the CDS exam is 19 to 25 years.

>> For CDS Applying candidate should be unmarried.

>> For CDS applicant should be Indian citizen.

>> Candidate for CDS exam should be Physically and mentally fit.

>> Candidate must have good eye sight and free from any kind of eye disease.

>> For CDS there is three step selection procedure as the first step of selection written exam is carried out after that Interview and Medical exam as the final step of selection.

Exam Pattern for CDS exam:- The written exam is objective type exam and based on the subjects are as follows:-

1). English:- Carries 100 marks and duration of exam is 2 hours.

2). Elementary Mathematics:- Carries 100 marks and duration of exam is 2 hours.

3). General Knowledge:- Carries 100 marks and duration of exam is 2 hours.

>> So written exam carries total 300 marks.

Important Dates for Upcoming CDS II exam:-

Date of Notification:- 09 - August - 2017.

Last date to apply for exam:- 08 - September - 2017.

Date of exam:- 19 - November - 2017.
