Yes, fresh engineering graduates can join to private companies through on/off campus recruitments. In government sector, you can join with PSU such as IOCL, BHEL or NTPC (as Graduate Engineer Trainee). Qualifying IES exam allow candidates to join engineering services sector. In railways, engineers are recruited to the profiles of Junior Engineer or Section Engineer. Officer level jobs are available in banks and defense.

In my opinion the best way is to clear GATE,As all the top public sector companies in india is recruiting students by their valid gate score.if you score good marks you definitely get into top Govt. sectors with best salary.
