Re: How to be an IAS officer and how to apply for IAS?
Its very simple to aaply for IAS.You have to first obtain 60% minimun marks in your previous exam...after that you will have to take the form from your nearest post office and fill it with correct info and post it. after few days you will get the admit card.
here's some more info: The direct recruitment of a candidate into IAS is by the Civil Service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Recruitment into IAS is also done by appointment by selection through powers conferred by section 3 of the All India Services Act of 1951 (61 of 1951) and in pursuance of sub-rule (2) of rule 8 of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules of 1954 and in super-session of the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Selection) Regulations of 1956. Repeated attempts are allowed up to four times for General Merit candidates, seven times for OBC candidates. There is no bar on the number of attempts for SC/ST candidates. The upper age limit to attempt the examination is 35 for SC/ST and 30 years for the General Merit Candidate. The candidate should not be older than 30 years of age as on 1 August of that year. The minimum age is 21 years. for more details visit this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Administrative_Service |

Re: How to be an IAS officer and how to apply for IAS?
Once you have completed graduation, you can apply for the Indian Administrative Service. It is as simple as that. All you need to apply for IAS is graduation degree in any discipline. Which means that you can have BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BCA degree and apply for the Indian Administrative Service.
To apply you should submit the entrance exam form which is released after the official notification by the Union Public Service Commission. This notification is issued in November/December of every year. You should read the notification properly and then apply for the IAS entrance exam. After submitting the form, you will be called to appear for preliminary exam which is conducted in May. Upon successfully clearing preliminary, you will be called for Main exam that is conducted a couple of months later. If you also managed to pass main exam then the only hurdle would be a personal interview. If performed well in interview as well then you will be selected for IAS. To apply for IAS, make sure you are meeting the criteria below. 1. You should be Indian national. 2. A graduation degree in any discipline. 3. No percentage requirement for graduation degree. Age Limit 1. General - 21 to 30 years. 2. OBC - Three years relaxation in upper age limit. 3. SC/ST - Five years relaxation in upper age limit. Exam Pattern 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview |
