Re: How to join Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering pursuing M.Com course?
It seems that you are bit late to reveal your interests to yourself.
If you try to be very practical then it is very much impossible to become a good engineer after having completed Master degree in some irrelevant stream. The problems that you would face are; 1. To get admission in any B.Tech. course in any engineering stream (or a B.Arch. course) you should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Maths in 10+2. If you had studied PCM subjects in 10+2 then this problem doesn't stand for you. 2. Even, if you qualify the above criteria you can't apply for IIT-JEE, AIEEE and BITSAT which are the leading entrance examinations for admission in engineering course (B.Tech.). It is true that those who don't crack IIT/AIEEE or any other leading entrance exam, also they may become a good engineer but at least they do the course on the time (age) when they should have done that. On a rough scale you can assume that you can't get admission in a good college. 3. Even, if you manage to get into some below average college, you will not get enough exposure. Even if you push yourself very hard you will be facing very very difficult situations. How? Suppose a student of 17 years old and you being 23 years old join the college simultaneously and both of you completed the course. Both of you interviewed by a company. The other guy will be asked few questions and if he is found to be answering technical questions his chances are very much to get selected. By the same interviewer, you will be asked Why did you leave commerce? After doing masters in commerce, you did realize that you didn't have interest in it and you had interest in engineering? Whatever you reply, your chances are least to get selected. Therefore, I would never suggest you to try even to go for Civil Engineering or any other engineering course. I think, you would have collected good knowledge of your present study area. You should move further in the same field. I have one more suggestion for you. If you have done 10+2 with PCM then you can go for B.Arch. course. This course is different from engineering courses because B.Arch. professionals get job only because of their skills and creativity. Even if you don't get a job at the start, you can start by yourself. You can appear NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) which is conducted generally from March to September. Refer: http://www.nata.in/ You can also refer the attached file to know some key information related to NATA. |

Quote:
I am sorry to say that you are not eligible for Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering after passing the M.Com... Engineering is related to science stream... You are from commerce stream so you are not eligible... For engineering candidate must pass 12th with physics, Chemistry and maths with minimum 50% marks.. |

you can pursue B. tech. in civil or B.Arch. but you will have spend another 6 years for this to get admission for B. tech. in civil or B.Arch. your 12th should be from science stream with minimum 50% you should clear entrance tests like IIT-JEE (if you crack this all India level exam you will get admission into IIT's, i.e Indian Institute of Technology) AIEEE (if you crack this all India level exam you will get admission into NIT's i.e. national Institute of Technology) CET (every state conducts common entrance test, to allot admission into colleges) if you want to pursue Engineering or architecture in top colleges then you have to crack entrance test with good score Best of luck |
