No, 10th standard candidates are not eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Procedure for Merchant Navy exam:-

1)Written test
2)Physical test
3)Medical test
4)Personal interview

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy exam-

Those candidates who have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant navy exam.

Your age should be below 20 years.

Physical criteria:-

• Eye Sight = 6/6
• Height = 167 cms
• Weight = 50 Kg
• Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

Since you have only passed class 10, you qualify for 6 months Pre-Sea course for General Purpose Rating.

You need to have at least 40% marks class 10.

Also you need to have 40% marks in English.

Additionally you need to be physically fit with normal eye vision and medically examined as per Merchant Shipping rule.

In order to join Merchant Navy after your 10th ,friend you will have to first complete your 12th with Physics , Chemistry , Mathematics and English as your compulsory subjects from a recognized college/school of a recognized board .

Then you will have to crack NDA examination conducted twice every year by Union Public Service Commission .

The qualifications required for appearing in this examination are here under :-

Your age must be above 16.5 years and below 19 years .

You must be an unmarried male candidate .

Your educational qualification for this examination is mentioned in top paragraph .

The examination is taken in two steps, first step is written examination and after that you will have to go for SSB interview .

To join Merchant Navy you need to have completed your 12th with Maths,Physics and Chemistry Subjects for Deck Cadets and for Officer job you need to have completed Graduation in Marin Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria to join Merchant Navy :-

• You need to have completed your 12th from Recognized Board if you want to join as Deck Cadets, and if you want to join as Officer or Engineer you need to have completed Graduation from Marin Engineering.
  
• Your need to a Unmarried person.
  
• Your age need to be between 17 to 20 for Deck Cadets and for Officer its between 21 to 25 years.
  
• You need to Citizen of India.
  
• You need to be Physically and Mentally strong.

After passing 10th, you will have to complete 12th with PCM subjects.

After completion of 12th you will have to crack NDA examination conducted by UPSC.

Other Requirements:-

Age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years.

Only unmarried male candidates can apply.

Candidate should be Indian Citizen

There are two stages of examination:-
