its always better to take a coaching center where you will be having weekly tests and you will mingle with many people regarding the same topic which will further develop your firmness in java...

there will be many institutes one of them being NIIT which is quite reputed and not only that after training they will be giving you a certificate which also has a great significance .

apart from that there are online websites like"http://www.freejavaguide.com/corejava.htm" where you can sit and get full guidelines . not to forget you have "youtube" tutorials where teaching is at its best .

for any of these 3 methods you also require lot of interest and dedication on the topic .. with only these you can excel in this field
