There are only few colleges in India that provide training in Astronomy
1. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai:
The department offers courses related to Astronomy in the following specialisations: -
- X-Ray and Gamma-Ray Astronomy
- Theoretical Astrophysics
- Infrared and Optical Astronomy

2.Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore:
IISC, bangalore is currently providing a training program called as Joint Astronomy program.
* curriculum of the first two semeste:
Semester I

-Fundamentals of Astrophysics
-Radiative Processes in Astrophysics
-Fluid Mechanics and Plasma Physics

Semester II

-Galaxies and the Interstellar Medium
-General Relativity and Cosmology
-Astronomical Techniques
