Re: How much marks one should secure in GATE 2016 to qualify?
Truly Speaking GATE Exam is for 100 marks. And There are around 60 questions. Out of these there will be 2 marks questions and also 1 mark questions.
You need to get about 28 on an average to get qualified for GATE 2016. If you have Category relaxation then you will gave separate marks criteria based on the Competition. More over you must take care of your subject while in preparation. And getting 35 mark is on safe side to get qualified with out having any category relaxation. |

Re: How much marks one should secure in GATE 2016 to qualify?
GATE stands for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The GATE 2016 exam is conducted by the IISC Bangalore. Do not worry about the marks given on the internet. Let me tell you that GATE is of 100 marks and consists of 65 questions from core subjects of engineering and aptitude.
There are one mark and two marks question in the GATE exam. There is negative marking for the wrong answer, one third marks is deducted for wrong answer. Every year the cut off marks for qualifying the GATE exam is different. But if you manage to score above 30 marks out of 100 marks, most probably you will clear the entrance exam without any doubt. For SC/ST candidates marks between 20-25 is cut off every year. But try to score more marks in order to get admission in top institutes like NITs, IIITs and IITs for M.Tech course. |

# Qualifying marks or cut off can be defined as the minimum marks which must be obtained by the candidate in GATE in order to pursue for various M. Tech and M.E. courses by way of getting admission in reputed IITs, NITs etc.
# In general, the cut off of the examination varies from year to year. The cut off of any examination generally goes up or goes down depending upon certain factors. The main factors which decide the cut off of any examination are: * Number of students participating. * Difficulty level of the question paper. * Number of seats advertised. * Performance of the students in the examination. # Similarly, here below few factors which decides the cut off of the GATE: * Number of institutes participating * Number of students applied * Number of available seats * Number and type of courses offered * Toughness of the question paper # It is advised that you should try to score following minimum marks in following disciplines in GATE for better chances of selection: * 35/100 in Mechanical Engineering. * 33/100 in Biotechnology * 32/100 in Instrumentation Engineering * 40/100 in Chemical Engineering * 33/100 in Computer Science * 33/100 in Electronics and Communication Engineering * 39/100 in Civil Engineering * 35/100 in Electrical Engineering |

Re: How much marks one should secure in GATE 2016 to qualify?
The cut off score for admission through GATE 2016 will depend on various factors like category of candidate, stream in which you want admission and also the number of seats available in the college.
The cut off scores for reserved categories like SC/ST remains lows in comparison to General and OBC candidates. Anything above 450 is considered a good score in GATE for getting admission in a government college if you are a general category candidate. In case of reserved category the cut off for admission can go as low as 300. Therefore, you should try to give your best and leave the rest. |
