Re: How much rank is required for an OBC candidate to get into NIT?
Hi
NIT is the National Institute of Technology and this is one of the finest and best technical institutions chains in India. There are many NIT's present in various parts and states of the country. Now I must tell you that unlike the IIT's the NIT's select candidates from the AIEEE ranks and scores. AIEEE is the All India Engineering Entrance Examination which is the largest Entrance exam in the country for the Undergraduate scale. This is organized and conducted by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) every year in the month of April right after the board exams are concluded. So if anyone wishes to get admission in the NIT's then you have to sit for this exam first and clear it with a good score and All India Rank (AIR). The Basic Criteria to sit for this exam and get admission in any of the NIT's is :- 1. You should be a minimum 12th pass from a recognized school with over 60% aggregate in the Science Stream. 2. You must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the compulsory subjects to sit for this exam and study Engineering. Thus once you satisfy these, you can apply and sit for the AIEEE. Now coming to your question, I must tell you that there is certainly some reservations and relaxations for the SC/ST and OBC's in our country. Still I would say that to get admission in any of the NIT's across the country you should rank within the top 5000- 7000 candidates. This is the last limit up to which you can expect any seat in any of the NIT's. Hope this helps All the best Regards RANJEET |

Re: How much rank is required for an OBC candidate to get into NIT?
Dear friend,
The cut off rank for OBC students are less If you manage to get rank upto 15000 you will get the top NIT's and you will be eligible for any branch. you can choose your branch. you want any NIT not a specefic one, then you can score upto 50000. you'll get NIT but the branch you get will not be fixed. it's better you study hard and secure good rank. so that you can choose any NIT and branch of your choice. Good luck. |

Re: How much rank is required for an OBC candidate to get into NIT?
Rank of an applicant is depended on the cut off weightage of every year's AIEEE. Its not the rank which will decide your eligibility for any nit but the marks you score will be considered and also the cut off percentage... (thats all dependent on your luck and the hard work you hav done). and if you have scored a rank in higher exams (like IIT) your name would be given priority to of the person who secured the same rank as of your's in AIEEE.
