How to prepare for state level SSC entrance exam? Reference books for the entrance exam?


Dear Sir
I am a graduate in Arts.
Now I am 30 years old.
Please advice me how to prepare for state lavel SSC exam and advice about the reference books preferred for study.

for 12 th i think you should refer ncrt books< mordern abc > n rd sharma fr maths!!!

competitive examz r game of smart work rather then hard work.......so check out the previous years question paper n try to understand the changing pattern of exam..........personally i feel now exam are not only based on subjective knowledge....but should be focused on international relations..... for ssc exams NCERT's really plays vital role so dont escape frm NCERTS 6 to 12th.........rest do ur best God will do the rest...

I just want to know it is required to attain questions from all segments , i mean from G.I , G.K , Q.A & Eng or i can skip one segment .

Dear aspirant,
The selection of best books will play a great role in deciding your rank.
If you have a good collection of books then your preparation will be better.

Pattern of Exam:
Tier I (200 marks – duration 2 hours)
(a) General Intelligence & Reasoning - 50 marks
(b) Gen.Awareness - 50marks
(c) Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks
(d) English Comprehension – 50 marks

Tier II (400 marks)
(I) Quantitative Abilities – 200 marks (100 Questions) – 2 hours
(II) English Language & Comprehension – 200 marks.


The best recommended books for SSC are as follows:


(a) General Intelligence & Reasoning - 50 marks- S chand
(b) Gen.Awareness - 50marks- Arihant GK, Upkar publication, pratiyogita darpan, curren t affairs of mahendra publication
(c) Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks - S chand, RS Agarwal, Dinesh Khattar
(d) English Comprehension – 50 marks- Objective english by Bakshi, Arihant publication, Upkar publication.


Total cut off:
General: around 340
OBC: around 320
SC/ST: around 290
