Re: If NEET is implemented, will the colleges like Amrita, JIPMER come under NEET?
National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is expected to replace all existing entrance exams for medical in India. The idea behind NEET as planted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development is One Nation, One Exam.
It would save the medical aspirants from appearing for various entrance exams. Now you would be able to seek admission in a medical college through the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam. Till this year, candidates after completing 12th with Biology as a subject had to appear for one of these entrance exams: AIPMT AFMC Entrance Exam DUMET JIPMER But these exams would not take place from next year onwards and would get replaced by the NEET exam. It would not matter whether you are applying for private college or government college, you will be given admission on the basis of NEET. Even all the colleges who used to conduct their own entrance exam have been forced by the Medical Council of India to accept the NEET entrance exam. The only other medical exam which would continue is AIIMS entrance exam. The reason being that to bring AIIMS under the NEET, Medical Council of India requires the parliament amendment. Until that happens, AIIMS would continue to conduct its separate test. The NEET exam would be your ticket for admission in MBBS and BDS. Although complete details about the exam have not been released. What we know for sure is that NEET would take place for the first time on May 5, 2013. |
