hi sir i am pursuing my b.tech from i.t stream.I want to know the job opportunities for i.t students in air force.I am interested to do job in air force. so plz reply me and what is the selection process.thank you

The three branches of the Air force are

• Flying,
• Ground duty
• and Technical branch.

The officer cadre provides opportunities for men with 10+2 / Intermediate (only in the Flying branch), graduates (all three branches), engineers (all three branches) and postgraduates (all branches except the Flying branch) in the various positions. Women with graduate (all three branches), engineering (all three branches) and post graduate degrees (all branches except the Flying branch) have openings as an Officer in the Air force.

You can observe there is no specific branch is mention so yes a computer engineer can also join ARMED-FORCE.

You can either apply for UPSC or can apply for air-force exam via AFCAT.

Yes, my friend you can join in Air force from IT stream..

For that you have to complete your B.tech course , after which you can apply for IAF through CDS/AFCAT exam..

You can go for any of these exam to join in AIR force..

Eligibility for CDS/AFCAT exam:-

For Air force academy:-

1.Candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade but must have had maths and physics in 12th.

2.Age should be in between 19-23 years.

3.Candidate must be a citizen of India.

4.candidate must be physically fit..

These are the eligibility criteria you need to fulfill.

So, complete your graduation first.

You have completed B-TECH so you are eligible for CDSE ,UES and AFCAT exam.This exam is conduct for AIR FORCE EXAM.Details of those exams are given below.

COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE EXAM(CDSE)

Those candidate are completed graduation are eligible for CDSE exam but 12 standard subject must be Math and Physics.

B-TECH ans BE student are also eligible for this exam .But you have not any Pending Backlog.

Final Year student are also eligible for CDSE exam.There is no percentage marks criteria.

AGE CRITERIA

Indian Military Academy - 19-24 Years
Air Force Academy - 19-23 Years
Naval Academy - 19-22 Years
Officer's Training Academy - 19-25 Years


UNIVERSITY ENTRY SCHEME ( UES)

The candidate must be currently studying in Pre-final year of BE / B Tech degree course in the relevant streams of engineering as mentioned above and must have secured minimum of 60% marks in aggregate .

But you have not any Pending Backlog.

AGE CRITERIA

Your age should be in between 18 to 28 years.

Both exam is conducted by UPSC so you can apply those exam through UPSC.

DETAILS ABOUT AFCAT EXAM

GROUND DUTY BRANCHES

AGE:20-27 years of age.
EDUCATION: Post graduation or Bachelor degree in any subject with at least 60% aggregate marks.

FLYING BRANCHES

AGE:19 years to 23 years.
EDUCATION:B.E / B.Tech degree or a Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% aggregate marks.

TECHNICAL BRANCHES

AGE:18-28 years of age
EDUCATION:Aeronautical Engineering with minimum 60% marks.

You can join Indian Air Force after passing B.Tech.
For this you have to qualify the C.D.S exam.

C.D.S stand for Combine Defence Services.

C.D.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C twice in a year.

Eligibility criteria:-
> Pass graduation with recognized university
> Age limit:-19-24 year.
> Must be citizen of India
> Medically fit

There are three steep of selection:-
> Written Exam
> Interview
> Medical exam

IMPORTANT DATES FOR C.D.S. EXAM.(II), 2012
Date of Notification:-02.06.2012
Last date of receipt of form:-02.07.2012(MONDAY)
Date of exam:-16.09.2012(SUNDAY)

There is no specific post in Indian Air Force for I.T. students however with I.T. qualification you may join Air Force after 12th or graduation degree.
