Yes, now a days , there is a huge demand of Electronics and Communication Engineer in Automobile Industry. For example, most of the vehicles today consists of various microprocessors/microcontrollers and sensors for their automatic locomotion. So this kind of automation work can only be done either by an Electronics Engineer or by an Electrical Engineer.
Chennai is the hub of biggest automobile industries like BMW, Hyundai, Tata Motors etc. So you can easily get a job in this companies if you are efficient in the relevant work.

***Yes, Tata Motors offer 6 month internship program to B.Tech Mechanical or Automobile Engineering freshers from selected institutes.
