Is M.Phil compulsory for doing PhD in any stream?

Respected Sir/Mam, I have completed my M.Ed and now wants to start with PhD. But, I heard that M.Phil is compulsory for PhD. Is it true? Do I need to first complete my M.Phil and then start with PhD?

** As per my knowledge, M.Phil is not compulsory for doing Ph.D. course.

** In order to get admission in the Ph.D. course, the candidate should have passed master degree with at least 50 to 60% from a recognized university.

** For the admission of Ph.D. course, you have to appear in the entrance examination which is conducted by the university.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
