CDS exam doesn't require any percentage marks in 10th and 12th standard. Only graduate candidates can apply for CDS exam.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Services. The academic qualification required for CDS exam is bachelor's degree. There is a long way to go for CDS exam for you as you are at present in 10th standard. In order to join Navy, a candidate must have done bachelor's degree in science with maths and physics or degree in engineering.

The age limit for Naval academy through CDS exam is 19-22 years. There is no such minimum percentage of marks in 10th and 12th, candidates with passing percentage of marks in these standards can apply for CDS exam. There is one more exam called NDA exam at 10+2 to apply for Navy. You can apply for this exam also.

First and foremost there is no relaxation for any category candidates so there is no benefit of being SC/ST or disadvantage of being in general category.

As, you have cleared your 10th Std if you are interested in joining the Indian Navy you have NDA examination is a better option before the CDS examination for which minimum required qualification is bachelor degree.

There is no minimum aggregate in 10th or 10+2 or bachelor degree to appear for examination. But, you have to qualify in written and SSB stages for final selection.

The written paper have three paper of 100 marks each and candidates have to qualify in each paper separately before appearing for SSB.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service and the examination is conducted for recruitment of candidates in Air Force, Navy, Army and OTA.

Right now you are far behind in educational qualification to appear for examination as minimum required qualification is bachelor degree. So, there is not issue or criteria based on the marks in 10th or 10+2.

The examination is conducted of 500 marks for IMA/IAF/INA but it is only of 400 marks for OTA. The examination is conducted in two stages as written and SSB and it is necessary for candidates to qualify in each of the paper of written examination for selection in the interview stage. To get more information about examination visit at www.upsc.gov.in.

You have not cleared your tenth board exams and the minimum academic qualification required to apply for Combined Defence Services examination is bachelor's degree. Before that there is one entrance examination called NDA/NA examination for which 10+2 candidates who want to join defence can apply.

After 10+2 board exams, you can apply for NDA exam for joining Navy. For Navy, mathematics and physics in 10+2 or bachelor's degree is necessary. You just need to have passing percentage of marks in 10th and 10+2 to apply for either NDA exam or CDS exam. The age limit for NDA exam is 16.5-19.5 years and that for CDS Naval academy is 19-22 years.

As you are interested to serve in Merchant Navy hence you have to pass your class XII with physics, chemistry and mathematics with at least 60% marks from recognised board. Then you have to appear in NDA examination and if by chance you will not be able to crack this exam then you have to complete your graduation from a recognised University then you can appear in CDS exam.
