What is the maximum age to appear in the National Eligibility test 2012?

NET stands for National Eligibility Test. NET Exam is being conducted by UGC (University Grants Commission).

This exam will be conducted
-for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
-and also for eligibility into Lectureship

One should have to score a minimum of 55% of marks in their Post Graduation course in order to be eligible for this exam.
-Relaxation is there in percentage of marks upto 5% for teh candidates of SC/ST category.

As per age criteria,
There is no upper age limit at all required for the candidate for Lectuership.
-But for JRF, one should be in the age group of 19-28 years.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of OBC and also for SC/ST category candidates.

So, check yourself whether you possess the required age criteria to appear for this exam or not by having a glance over above mentioned age criteria.

i am doing m.sc in chemistry.i am in first semester. Plz give me some tips. How many hours should i read. Should i star preparing for net exam from this stage.

There is no maximum age limit but in case of JRF it should be in the age group of 19-28 years and 5 years relaxation is entertained by OBC,ST & SC

NET - NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST conducted by UPSC twice a year one in June and other in the month of December for selection of Lectureship and award of JRF(Junior Research Fellowship).

The eligible candidate should have passed Post Graduation Degree in any stream with 55% marks from a recognised University and not bellow the age of 19 years.

There is no upper age bar for those applying for Lectureship.

But candidate applying for JRF should not be more then 28 years of age. There is upper age relaxation for OBC and SC/ST candidate up to 5 years.
