IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination and to apply for this examination you need to complete your Engineering Degree course form a recognised University.

So, If you have possessing a degree in Engineering in any discipline is eligible for taking Engineering Service Examination, Final Year Engineering graduates are also eligible to apply for IES Examination.

So, If your age should between 21 to 30 years then you are eligible to apply for Next year IES 2012 Examination.

Recruitment on the results of IES examination will be made to the Posts under the following categories -

>> Civil Engineering.
>> Mecahnical Engineering.
>> Electrical Engineering.
>> Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

The Notification was published in the employment Newspaper OR in the UPSC Website in the Month of February.

Hello Saurav,
For Engineering Service Exam, you must have completed a bachelors degree in engineering. The examination is conducted in only four disciplines of engineering but that doesn't means that candidates who have done their engineering in other disciplines are not eligible. Whichever stream of engineering you have studied, you will have to write any one of the four groups of engineering mentioned below.
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Electrical Engineering

Apart from being an engineer, you must be within the age limit of 21-30 years to be eligible for the engineering service exam.
