VAO stands for Village Administrative Officers which is conducted by TNPSC.

If you have 12th standard OR graduation degree then you are applicable for VAO exam but you age should be in between 21 to 30 years old.

Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule .For the reserved category candidates there is age relaxation. The upper age limit for SC/ST candidates is 40.But you must know the Tamil language.

To give the TNPSC exam you need to have a SSLC certificate. In other words you need to be a 10th pass out to give this exam. Higher qualifications will be considered only when you have this certificate to show.

The lower age limit for this exam is 21 years. The upper age limit for this exam is 30 years. For SC/ST candidates it is 40 years.

You should be proficient in Tamil languages as that is the local language of the villagers in Tamilnadu. If you do not know the language well then you need to give an exam where pass marks should be guaranteed.

Since the authority concerned expects that you should be physically fit when giving this exam therefore you need to produce medical certificates during the time of examination in the form of TNMS, TNJMS or TNSS.

There will be two papers for the exam: General Knowledge and General Tamil/ English. You have to answer 200 questions altogether of 300 marks in three hours. The minimum qualifying marks for this exam is 90. This needs to be guaranteed to stay in contention.

Application for this exam can be made both online and offline. All the documents and papers needs to be shown to them at the exam time. So you do not need to post them in an advance. Cost of the fee for the general category is 125 rupees and for the reserved category it is 50 rupees.

This year the exams is due in 30th of September, 2012 from 10 am to 1 pm. The result will be out by November and interview session will be conducted on the month of December.
