Fashion designing is one of the most glamorous, lucrative, appealing, and exciting career options. If you have a affinity for creativity, style and originality, a career in fashion designing is the one tailor made for you. On one hand, the fashion industry satisfies both the creative and the materialistic needs of the people. On the other hand, it promises, fame , glamour, success and a high pay package to the talented people. Subjects like painting, home science, drawing, and computer graphics will develop your creativity. Student may enrol for either a full-time course or a part time certificate course. Students usually take these up after their 10+2 levels. There is no such percentage requirement to pursue course in Fashion Designing. Beside this you will have to go through an entrance exam conducted by the institutes itself. The test comprise of General AbilityTest, Creative ability Test, Situation Test.

Eligibility criteria - Students who have passed intermediate with Physics , chemistry and Maths are eligible for the bachelor course in fashion designing. There is no particular minimum percentage required.

Candidates who have passed General ertificate Education Examination at the Advanced ( A ) level are also eligible for it.

There are many courses offered like -
Certificate Course in Fashion Art & Design- It is a 4 month course for which the education qualification required is intermediate only and there are 25 seats in it.

Some other courses which can be pursued immediately after 10+2 without any specific percentage required are -

Certificate Programme in Fashion Design and Clothing Technology - The duration of the course is 1 year.

Programme in Fashion Design Technology- the duration of the course is 2 years and number of seats available is 30.

Computer Aided Textile Designing - Its a 1 year course but for this selection will be based on an interview and a creative test.

Computer Applications in Fashion Industry- It is a one year course but for this the qualification required is fashion education in addition to intermediate

Degree-cum-Diploma in Fashion Design and Information Technology (FDIT)- the duration of the course is 3.5 years and number of seats available is 30.

For other course if NIFT an educational qualification of Graduation is required however there are some other correspondence courses also for which the candidate must be 10+2 pass only

Minimum eligibility for undergraduate course in fashion designing is that you should have at least 50% marks in 10+2 examination and for post graduate courses in fashion designing is graduate degree.

In most of the Institutes admission is merit based - written test, situation test, group discussion and interview.
A course in fashion designing are aimed at understanding Concepts related to constume, jewellery , interior designing, leather goods where fashion /style applies.

The courses include graduate, post graduate, certificate and diploma in various areas such as:
Fashion designing and accessory designing

Apparel marketing and merchandising

Eligibility criteria:-

Hi.. For admission in post graduation in Designing, you have to qualify graduation with 50% marks in any stream. So, you can apply for M.Design or M.Sc Design in institutes like National institute of Fashion Technology, Vogue institute, Lovely Professional University, Pearl Academy etc. You may have to appear for the university tests in these institutes to be eligible. The fee structure is different in different institutes. You may also get scholarships to pursue your course in institutes like LPU.
