Hi, I have completed my 12th Board exams from Commerce stream and now I wish to do B.Tech degree course with specialization in Textile Technology. Is it possible? What if I clear any entrance?

No, it is not possible for you to pursue B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) degree course in Textile engineering having completed your Class 12th in Commerce stream as for admission to B.Tech. degree course in any branch, the minimum education required is a Class 12th in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects from a recognised board of education.

After 12th commerce, you are not eligible for B.Tech (Textile Engineering). For B.Tech (Textile Engineering), One must have qualification (10+2) in science stream with physics, mathematics and one of the subjects from chemistry, biology, computer science and biotechnology. You can pursue other courses in textile designing after completion of your 12th commerce

The eligibility criteria for Bachelor of Technology course:

1. The minimum academic qualification required for Bachelor of Technology course is 12th passed from a recognized board with essential subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Science stream is necessary for engineering courses. Commerce stream candidates can not apply for admission in B.Tech course in any discipline.

If you want to pursue engineering course, you can pursue 12th with PCM subjects again to become eligible for this.

No with a commerce stream it is not possible as it compulsorily needed to study physics, chemistry and Mathematics.
