NET is short for National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission on the behalf of central government. This exam is taken up by the candidates who are interested in lectureship and PhD.

Successfully passing the National Eligibility Test would get you lecturer job in central governemnt colleges. But to appear for the exam you need minimum qualification of post graduation.

The National Eligibility Test is conducted twice a year. You can free to appear for any of these exams. The first time NET takes place in June while second time in December. University Grants Commission issues a notification several weeks ahead of the exam explaining the admission procedure and how to apply.

Preparing for the National Eligibility Test is not easy especially for the candidates who have not joined any coaching center and instead preparing on their own. Such candidates require to download previous years question papers that would help them prepare for the exam. On your request I have attached the previous years question papers for Mathematics. Before you start preparing for the exam, make sure you meet all the criteria that I have mentioned below.

Eligibility

1. You must be Indian citizen to apply for UGC-NET.

2. Interested candidates must posses post graduation degree in any stream from a University Grants Commission recognized university.

3. A minimum of 55 percent marks in post graduation.

4. 50 percent marks for SC/ST candidates.

5. Those who are in final year of post graduation may also apply.

6. But such candidates should be able to submit their degree within 2 years of passing the NET entrance exam. Unless they will be disqualified.

7. The age limit for JRF is 28 years.

8. The age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC.

9. While SC/ST are eligible for 5 years relaxation.

10. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship.

11. Neither there is any restriction on number of attempts.

Hello dear,
Of course it is important to appear for National Eligibility Test if you wish to become lecturer for central government colleges. If you are applying for lectureship in state government funded colleges then it is important to appear for SET exam of that particular state.

National Eligibility Test is conducted by University Grants Commission. It has been made mandatory by the central government for all the candidates interested in college lectureship and PhD to appear for this exam. No government college would offer you lecturer job unless you have passed the NET exam.

This exam takes place two times a year. Both times it is conducted by the University Grants Commission. The UGC issues a notification to announce the dates of the exam and details about application process. You need to submit the application online via the official website of the UGC-NET.

Other details regarding fee and how to submit it is also available on the official website of the UGC-NET.

Eligibility

1. NET exam is opened for candiadates of Indian origin.

2. Candidates having completed master degree can apply for NET.

3. Must have scored 55 percent marks in post graduation.

4. 50 percent marks in case of SC/ST.

5. Final year students of master degree course can also apply.

6. To avoid disqualification such candidates should submit their degree within 2 years of completing the NET exam.

7. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship.

8. You are free to appear for NET exam as many times as you would like.
